Dear
Perspective Recipient:
One
Step Close is a social service provider, as defined
in S.B.1291 that has alternative housing options for
individuals being released from either prison or jail.
Two options are currently available for selection.
Option
One is appropriate for individuals who have a chemical
or alcohol dependency problem and demonstrate a need
for a structured clean and sober living environment.
Individuals may apply to be accepted into this program
prior to release from either prison or jail. All that
is needed to apply is a letter or post card requesting
an application package and a willingness to obtain employment
and remain clean and sober. Upon receipt of the individual's
request, One Step Closer will handle all necessary arrangements
to facilitate a successful transition from the appropriate
correctional facility to our "First 90 Day's" recipient
program. During this first 90 day period, individuals
are assigned a case consultant who will work closely
with them to secure necessary social services and training.
Primary emphasis will be directed toward obtaining employment
and being involved in a structured program of recovery.
Following
an individual's successfully completion of our "First
90 Day's" recipient program they will be deemed a program
graduate. Program graduates are eligible to transition
into graduate housing for 90 days. During this time
period they are given additional assistance to move
into OSC's regular housing program. In our regular housing
program we continue to work, one on one, with our recipients
on both social service and financial issues.
Option
Two is appropriate for individuals who do not have a
chemical or alcohol dependency problem but need assistance
in obtaining stable housing. Barriers to obtaining stable
housing upon release usually relate to having a recent
criminal record, past credit issues or needing employment.
OSC can once again be of assistance to individuals having
these types of concerns. We have access to properties
that have clean and safe living environments and will
accept individuals with a recent criminal history. Because
individuals are recipients of our "program" we can offer
both flexible payment schedules and assist with employment
opportunities. Application for this option is the same
as with Option One. Individuals accepted for this Option
will be assigned a case consultant who will provided
one on one assistance, social service and employment
referrals. With a proven employment history individuals
may transition into our regular housing program.
In
selecting either Option One or Two One Step Closer offers
viable alternatives for individuals being released from
correctional facilities. Our program of providing social
services on a continuum of care basis helps promote
our recipients success as they re-establish their roles
are productive members of society.
Warmly,
Les
Boynton
